About Us
Welcome to The Castaneda law group
My name is Jacqueline Guinan. I am a proud first generation, child of immigrants. My parents immigrated to the United States at the height of El Salvador's Civil War. I am deeply grateful for my parents' sacrifices and hard work. Born in the Bronx, NY, I spent much of my early years in New York City. When I was 14, we moved to Daphne, AL. In 1996, my father's company transferred him to an office in Mobile, AL. Like many New Yorkers, I was shocked to learn there was a world outside of New York City. While it was a monumental change in my life, I am fortunate to have had this experience. I learned that despite cultural and social differences, there are many other life experiences that bring us together. To this day, my very best friends are the people I met in high school. In May of 2000, I graduated high school from Bayside Academy, in Daphne, AL. I continued my academic career at Villanova University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. I focused my studies on Political Science and Philosophy. It was during this time that my understanding of social justice and international studies really developed. I participated in Habitat for Humanity trips through the United States, Mexico and South Africa. I spent a summer of independent study in El Salvador focusing on the vital role local governments played in the post-Civil War climate. I also happened to meet my future husband and developed a love for college basketball. Go Wildcats. I always knew I wanted to be a lawyer. At the young age of 21, I had no idea how or what that would be like for a person like me. My post graduate career began at Widener University, School of Law. I particularly enjoyed Constitutional Law and Legal Writing. From there, I transferred to Rutgers School of Law in Camden, NJ. I discovered my love for moot court and for the business side of the world. I decided to pursue a dual degree and enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program. In 2009, I graduated from Rutgers University-Camden with a Juris Doctorate and a Master in Business Administration. After passing the bar exam in Pennsylvania, I reunited with an old law school friend. In 2013, we joined forces and formed Castaneda Planzer, LLC. During this time, I focused my practice on immigration law. I appeared before the Immigration Court in: Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY, Boston, MA, Baltimore, MD, Newark, NJ, Arlington, VA, Atlanta, GA, New Orleans, LA, Orlando, FL, Las Vegas, NV and several in Texas. I also appeared before the detained immigration courts in York, PA, Oakdale, LA, Jena, LA and Annandale, VA. I spent a lot of time and effort building relationships and experiences on the appellate level. In 2017, I was admitted to the 5th Circuit of Appeals. In January of 2024, I formed The Castaneda Law Group, LLC. I am excited and grateful for this new journey. I look forward to building and improving my practice. I am a firm believer that you should never stop learning, researching or studying. The issues my clients face can be complex and evolve through each change in the Administration. I currently live in Daphne, AL with my college sweetheart, 8-year-old son, 4-year-old daughter and Javy, our boxer rescue.
